Rental & purchased properties cost a fraction of what you would pay in the city. The rental for a 3-4 bedroom house with garden is €500-€700 per month on average compared to €1,700 - €3,000 in Dublin and €1,400 - €1500 in Cork city for similar, if typically smaller, houses.

Schools and Crèche / Care for the Elderly
The primary school in the village - St Michael's National School - has a pupil-teacher ratio of 15:1 (60% of national average), and Tahilla National School in the neighbouring village is similar. This means there’s more focus on your child’s development. Both schools are regularly in the top-tier in Sten (Standardised Testing) Scores.
Second-level education in provided in Pobalscoil Inbhear Scéine in the nearby town of Kenmare. A school bus brings students from Sneem and the surrounding area throughout the school year
Sneem Community Crèche is open throughout the year for younger children from 6 months old. With free ECCE childcare, additional hours at €5ph and a homework class with collection and return at €3 per hour you will find great value versus city costs.
It is also worth noting that there are high quality, scenic nursing homes within 30 minutes.
